My passion for the outdoors has taken me to the far reaches of Scotland and beyond. I enjoy exploring new places, this can be by foot, bike or on the water. Photography is important to me for capturing memories and interesting compositions for use in my art work. From a young age I’ve been captivated by the outdoors and it will always be my go to activity when I need a change of environment.

My most important values as a practicing artist are adventure, creativity and happiness. My work is designed to inspire and evoke memories within a person. It will lead them to a memorable embrace of a time or place. My work is meant to spark happiness within a person. Exploring different perspectives and looking at natural compositions in nature is fundamental to my creative process.

I’m creating my art and developing my style in an effort to inspire younger generations to explore and develop a love for the outdoors. The detail and ethereal style of my work is designed to draw people in and explore the location with their eyes, in a hope they will in turn explore the location in person. It’s showing off the impossible beauty of mother nature.

My vision for the coming year and beyond is to build a strong understanding of my chosen mediums, develop my style while sticking true to my values and create a small, personal business which is recognised in the community and beyond.

Process statement

My process is traditional in a sense. It starts in my sketchbook, progresses to research of the location, drafting in pencil follows on paper. When all the elements come together, the ink goes down. Upon starting the inking process I tend to become fully absorbed in the process. The layering of fine details and establishing depth take all of my concentration. Typically, I start with the longer lines first, moving into the shorter lines/mark making and finishing with stippling to add depth and shadows.
